House Keeping

Yes. This is one of those posts. The ‘Hey guys, let’s talk about what's happening with life' because things are certainly changing at my end. But don't worry for even a second, I'm not going anywhere :)


At the moment, I am quite literally ‘house keeping’. I’m in the process of cleaning out, making more than a few trips to Vinnies, selling clothes and jewellery to private buyers and on ebay, and putting up with the never ending chaos of repainting my house. The re-paint in itself has called for me to contemplate moving everything I own in order to paint. A not inconsiderable job when you consider that I have more stuff than the average person. 


"So what's the go then?" You ask me.


THE SHOP:
It's been taking up some major space in my spare room, and I don't have to time to photograph, measure, wash/dry clean, repair etc clothing items on a regular basis. So the store is still going to be around, but I'm only going to be listing accessories - think scarves, hats, belts, gloves, jewellery. This will save me a lot of space, and make my store more streamlined. The store will be reopening later this month , once I have gone through and decided carefully on what I’ll be stocking. As a warning, some things that were in the store before will be gone, sold off privately. So if they're was something you wanted, you best hit up the Contact page. 


THE BLOG:
You might've noticed the new tabs at the top of the page. I've basically decided to start giving the blog a little dust over and shine up while I'm doing all this overhaul too. There's a link for tutorials which you might find handy if you want some hair styles to do, and I'll be updating that regularly.  I've also decided to start structuring my updates. I think this make my time much easier to manage, and give you an idea of when you’ll be seeing things.  So, you'll get one outfit post a week, a hair tutorial every second Thursday and then all the other goodies in between, whether video, new purchases, etc.  Check back in next Thursday for a Flapper do for long hair, I think you'll love it.

What I found and my 1st birthday

So, it’s my shop birthday tomorrow! My little shop has been great fun to run and I’ve sold some sweet pieces to some sweet people, and that makes me glad. On to the new old (this is what I call any new pieces of vintage I receive/buy), I went thrifting on the weekend with Astin, and we were both pretty lucky. This girdle wasn’t for sale technically, but the shop lady ended up selling it to me. For $4. I nearly did a jig. I also found a real fur scarf (perfect for winter) and a 70s wool skirt for me. Have I mentioned how much I love 70s wool plaid skirts? I really do.

And then for the shop, these gorgeous evening bags. They’ll be making their way there pronto!

Happy Valentine’s Day. Even though today is about your sweetheart, remember to always be good to and love yourself equally. I’m treating myself to a hot bath with a good novel, a delicious candle and a cuppa. You can treat yourself too, with my Sweet Hearts Sale. Pick up a treat for yourself. And on another note... I'm now a national cover model. It's nothing to do with vintage as you can see! It's a bit disconcerting to see it in the newsagency and at first, I quite hated the cover shot. I looked at it and thought, geez I look HUGE (let's face it, I don't wear hipster pants ever for a reason). But then I realised, hey, wait, it's ok I don't look stick thin! I'm a size 10-12 Aus, 36F, non-airbrushed girl on a national magazine cover. About time isn't it?

Christmas Eve (Sale)

Yes, it’s Christmas Eve! I’m hoping Santa brings you goodies tonight. I'm unbelievably excited, even with the last minute craziness to deal with (like my car breaking down and that last present I need to buy....). Christmas Eve for me, is a time with friends and family, playing Monopoly, eating pudding and listening to carols. Oh and putting on n epic 40s gown, indeed it is epic to get into, and prance about giving candy canes to the kids.

Checking in...

Just a low-qual piccie from the other day, featuring my gorgeous Jean Jean Vintage Art Deco hair clips (and swallow earrings. Pic up their twins here!) I throw the clips in my hair whenever I don't feel like doing anything other than a bun.

I'm feeling terrible as I went to various functions on the weekend, and failed to take any decent outfit piccies. My garb ranged from sweet lolita style to chunky black strappy platform heels and silk tea print dress. Oh well.
