The Family Stone

I love vintage jewellery. There's something divine about it - and even if you don't wear vintage clothing, you can always wear vintage jewels. They look great with the simplest outfit (read, jeans and a tee).

I have a few pieces I am incredibly fond of. They're not valuable by any means, but sentimental and fabulous.

When my Aunt gave this to me a few years back I was instantly in love. It originally came from her mother-in-laws side of the family. This art deco era glass pendant has beautiful leaf detailing and it's original chain. It was incredibly tarnished, so after a good polish it looks fantastic.

This is an amazing pre-ban ivory cameo. It's divine. I don't really know where it came from, though I have had it for many years - I suspect it belonged to my paternal grandmother.

This 1960s green beaded necklace is quite shabby looking as you can see. It belonged to my Aunt, and she would wear it to Sunday School as a teenager. You can see her wearing it below. It needs restringing these days, and the beads are showing a tonne of chipping.

And yes, I also wish I had her dress. Isn't it cute? This would've been the early sixties when this was taken.

This necklace is one of my favorites. It belonged to my maternal grandmother. She gave it to me quite a few years back. It's a 1980 signed Givenchy piece. And sadly the chain is damaged and it has a dead rhinestone in it. I think I'm going to have to get it repaired!

I love this set. Mum only ever owned the necklace and as a child I absconded with it. I loved the blue of the stone. Turns out it was by Jorgen Jensen. He was the second son of Georg Jensen, and worked in pewter as well. Later on I found the earrings at my favorite vintage jewellery store and paid a pretty penny for them. I nearly cried when I saw an identical pair at the Love Vintage fair for $8.

Do you have a favorite heirloom piece?

Love WTP x
