Creation: A Film Review

Hi Everyone,

Doing something a little different this time round. You see, last night I went to see an advance screening of the soon to be released, Creation as a little thank you from the lovely PR people at Laura Ashley.

I was pretty excited about seeing this film. I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of The Origin of Species mixed with a love story and some great costuming? This film was, I must say, magnificent. Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly were divine as Charles and Emma Darwin. It is amazing to think that one of the greatest scientific theories of all time could come from a man so tortured and distracted by the death of his daughter, and the deterioration of his marriage and health.

The cinematography was superb - a mix of time lapse photography, special effects and beautiful comparisons of life forms were absolutely a feast to behold. And Paul and Jennifer were utterly, amazingly passionate in the roles - I guess you can tell they are married in real life too!

I sobbed ridiculously when Charles told the story of Jenny, you really should see it because it is the most amazing moment I have seen in film in a long time.

And of course, the costuming! Wowee.

Laura Ashley was in partnership with Icon to create this film, and has released a range of tie-in clothing and furniture. I'm in love with the fashion items.

I would happily wear any of these, available from Laura Ashley stores. So, now, I don't mean to sway you, but do go and see the film when it comes out on July 15th. I think you'll enjoy it :)

Love WTP x

Ooh sounds good. I had no idea Jennifer Connolly was in this film too. Hooray for gorgeous husband and wife teams.

Lovely film review Ellen! Although, I'd be a bit hesitant seeing it at the cinema if it's a sad story! Maybe DVD? Love that Laura Ashley has these pretty pretty Victorian inspired cardigans and etc!! Yes, I wouldn't mind owning a couple of them. Lovely week to you Ellen!
