Bows, flash and stern face

Does it confuse everyone else how Father's and Mother's Days are on at different times around the world? Well, I get confused. One time when I was in London in late May the shops were filled with Father's Day merchandise, and I nearly hit the roof: Omg, had I forgotten? Then I remembered, uh, wrong country and I could calm down because we do Mother's Day in May. Anyway, it was Father's Day here in Australia on Sunday. I dragged out this skirt from storage because, bows. Who needs another reason? It's a bit big, but I just can't part with this skirt. It was my first 1950s novelty print skirt and I adore it.

Sorry these photos are in front of that ultra-glam spare room bedroom wall, and shot with flash; I can't wait for daylight savings to return in a few weeks so I can go back to afternoon photographs with beautiful sunshine and sunglasses. Also, I didn't feel like smiling. So, I didn't. This is my resting face. I look kind of stern. I'm sorry. I'm not stern, in fact, I'm really friendly most of the time. But the stern look makes people think I am stern, and as one of my good friends told me a little while after we'd met, 'I didn't think we were going to get along because you didn't look friendly'. Uh. Does that ever happen to anyone else?
